Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable and yet powerful characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Born to a famous playwright's father but being raised by a single mother, who earned her living by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while spending summers with her father, eventually studying acting, initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway shortly after her graduation, she appeared in films within two years. She also appeared on TV in the year after. Since then, she's appeared in countless films and stage and television productions. Through her entire professional career, she's received numerous awards. These includes 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Her nominations include five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations. But, in spite of her awards and accolades, the theatre is still her passion and she'll continue to play on the stage and on screen.
